So you’ve heard “I don’t love you like a spouse. I’ve never loved you” or “I love you but I’m not in love with you” and somehow you’ve discovered that your spouse has had an affair.
You need something to do and quickly to try to save your marriage, however your instincts are going to work against you. Let me share with you four things you can do starting right away that will help to not only save your marriage but also save your sanity and keep your dignity in tact.
1) Don’t be in a rush
Right now, take a deep breath do something that is calming for you and try to stop the panic within. This may be a perfect time to shed a tear and have a good cry. Although it feels like you have to do something straight away, in real life if you take the time to breathe and think things through, it can and will save your sanity and may very well contribute to saving your marriage. So don’t be in a rush; it’s perfectly fine to slow down, think things through, and be purposeful.
Before you speak to your partner about your marriage and their physical or emotional affair, take some time to do a few things. You will already have to overcome a lot of emotional pain and hurdles, but this is a good time for you to rise to the occasion and grow as a person. Therefore , before you make things worse by flying off the handle into an argument or completely acting like a doormat, take your time, take stock, and prepare.
The second thing you need to do is going to be a hard one to except.
