Hospitality and management are vital functions within the hotel and catering industry, and they are responsible for thousands of jobs within these sectors. These industries are among the most stable in our economy, and are likely to remain so for a very long time. This is because they satisfy the fundamental needs of food and shelter which everyone needs.
They are not dependent upon any kind of technology, and there is no emerging technology which can displace them. If you are looking for a stable career which will keep you in employment for the rest of your working life, you could do a lot worse than look at hotels and catering.
Of course, there is a negative side to this industry, and it is one which is well enough known. Wages are not high, as much of the work is routine and unskilled. This will change if you can become qualified to work at management level, but hotel chains are reluctant to employ people who don't have relevant experience within the industry.
